Join the Alpental Volunteer Ski Patrol

Do you love skiing, the outdoors, and helping others? Join a passionate team of volunteers committed to safety and service on the mountain.

Overview

Our 2024-2025 candidate class is full, but you can join our waitlist for 2025-2026. Aid Room positions are currently open for medical professionals.

What We Look For

  • Strong skiing or snowboarding skills
  • First aid knowledge and team spirit
  • Willingness to train and serve regularly

How to Join

  1. Skiing tryout (Alpine only)
  2. Toboggan and first aid training
  3. OEC, CPR, and AED certification
  4. Join NSP and AVSP

What's Expected

Patrollers work 16–20 shifts per season, including weekends and holidays. Ongoing certification in CPR, OEC, and toboggan handling is required.

Costs

  • Training & gear ~$1,000–$1,500
  • Membership dues and certification fees
  • Patrol jacket and rescue equipment

  • Hill Patrol: On-mountain, toboggan-certified volunteers
  • Aid Room: Medical professionals working off-hill
  • Doctor Patrol: Advanced medical volunteers
  • Transferring Patroller: Current or former patrollers joining AVSP
